Getting to Know L.A.C.E.
Monthly Meetings
are held at the
Elmhurst Public
Library,
125 S Prospect Ave,
Elmhurst, IL 60126 in the southwest suburbs
of Chicago. Meetings take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month
(excluding December) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library's meeting
room.
(Do not send L.A.C.E. correspondence to the Elmhurst library.)
Educational programs
follow the first half of our meeting. A
business session and lunch is first. The second half is devoted to
learning and hands-on practical programs where we focus on lace
making techniques. Occasionally there is a lecture or a field trip
to a special lace related exhibit.
Members
come from all surrounding areas and
backgrounds. While some are experts and instructors, others are
intermediate and beginning lacemakers whose interests range from the
making of all varieties of hand made lace to lace history and
collection. As a member, you will be surrounded by people who are
excited to meet you and will share with you their knowledge about
all aspects of lace and lace making. You will be provided with
opportunities to learn and grow in your lace interests. L.A.C.E.
quarterly newsletters are provided to all members.
More than just the formal meetings,
many members also meet on their own in
smaller groups to visit and make lace together. We also participate
in separate events, workshops and demonstrations. L.A.C.E. is a
charter member of the International Old Lacers. Inc.
Becoming a member is easy.
Download our membership form (PDF) which you
can print and then just follow the instructions on the form. Not
sure you want to join yet? Visit us by attending a meeting and
program and let us welcome you. Members are always more than happy
to problem solve after meetings. Lunch is not provided at the
meetings, however, there are restaurants nearby.
